Shoplifting Offence

Local officers would like to encourage parents and carers to speak with their children about making positive choices when out with friends.

Shoplifting is a criminal offence and can have serious consequences, including police involvement, a criminal record, and a lasting impact on future education and employment opportunities.

Please remind your children to:

Respect shops, staff, and other customers.

Never take items without paying.

Avoid giving in to peer pressure or dares.

Leave a shop if friends encourage them to steal or behave antisocially.

Talk to a trusted adult if they feel pressured to get involved in criminal behaviour.
